This privacy policy describes how OtterTile (ottertile.com), a service operated by Ken Liang, located at 930 Roosevelt, Irvine, CA 92620, collects, uses, and protects your information. You can reach us at staff@ottertile.com or (949) 771-8396.

1. Data We Collect

We collect your email address, display name, and any data you add to tiles, tasks, events, and Chrono alarms. If you choose to enable SMS or WhatsApp notifications, we also collect your phone number, the date, time, IP address, and method of your SMS consent, and your opt-out state (if you reply STOP). Providing a phone number is entirely optional — OtterTile is fully usable with email-only notifications. If you enable Pushover, we also store your Pushover user key.

2. How We Use Data

Your data is used solely to provide the OtterTile service — sending you reminders, managing your tiles, tasks, and events, and sending notifications via email, WhatsApp, SMS, or Pushover. We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. We share data only with the service providers strictly necessary to deliver notifications you have requested — namely Twilio (SMS and WhatsApp), Mailgun (email), and Pushover (push notifications).

Mobile information (phone numbers and SMS opt-in data) will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of personal data exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We share SMS-related data only with Twilio, our SMS delivery provider, solely for the purpose of delivering the messages you have requested.

3a. SMS / Text Messaging

OtterTile uses SMS to deliver the alarms, task reminders, and account notifications you configure in your account settings. SMS is strictly opt-in. We will never send you an SMS unless you have (1) entered a phone number, (2) selected an SMS-based notification channel, and (3) checked the consent checkbox in Settings. Message frequency varies based on your configured alarms and reminders. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe, or HELP for help. You may also revoke consent at any time by removing your phone number from Settings or changing your notification channel to Email. For complete details, see our SMS Terms and SMS Opt-In Flow.

4. Data Security

Your password is securely hashed. All data is stored in Cloudflare's secure infrastructure. Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS.

5. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. No tracking or advertising cookies.

7. Changes

We may update this policy. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
